About Us

I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to you as a visitor to our regional website for Zion Assembly Church of God. Our region encompasses the states of TN and GA. If you are newly exploring our church organization for the tenets of our faith and biblical vision then you're at the right place.

As a very brief overview that we understand through biblical prophecy, precepts and the teachings of Christ and the apostles that Jesus will return in the clouds one day soon to receive to Himself a people, His unified church, His bride, to be forever with Him in glory. Those who have died faithful to Him before this "rapture" will also be caught up to meet Him in the air. Space here will not allow a description of the wonderful things to follow that resurrection. 

Zion Assembly Church of God is distinct from most other church movements in several pivotal areas of Bible understanding. The first is with salvation itself. Broader "Christianity" has watered down the plan of salvation to include basically everyone who "calls on the name of Christ." There's more to it than that, although that's the place to start. Effectual salvation, that will actually get you to heaven, involves the process of conviction, even condemnation, regarding your sinfulness and thus offensiveness to God, Who is Holy and cannot abide sinfulness. Conviction then leads to godly sorrow, repentance, and faith in what Jesus did at Calvary for you. Thus, you are instantaneously justified and regenerated, in other words, born-again. 

At this point you are fit for heaven but there is more to be received in order to continue on that course with God. Jesus also died, by shedding His blood, to sanctify you; to make you practically holy (not merely adjudicated holy, which is the error of much of Christianity today). Sanctification is provided in the same atonement (death on the cross) and is the enabling grace to actually perform the will of God in your life. This includes living right and clean before God, and serving Him. God also desires to fill you with His sweet Holy Ghost to give you boldness and power for service.

Bible reading, prayer, worship, fellowship with the church, and some form of Christian service or ministry will spring forth in your life. Tithing and giving will also become a joyous experience for you. Zion Assembly is also distinct in her adherence to biblical marriage, and, like marriage, church membership also involves taking a covenant.
